Tips for healing + alignment

To start, you need to find out if your root chakra is open, over-active, or under-active.

These are my results. As you can see, my root chakra is extremely under-active right now. This fluctuates throughout life and alignment requires constant attention and work. I will also take this time to add a disclaimer: I am NOT an expert. This thread what I have learned.
The root chakra is located between the genitals and anus. This is where you should be focusing your energy.
To open any chakra, meditation is a big component. You should practice mudras when meditating to focus your energy to specific parts of your body 🧘🏼

A mudra is the symbol you make with your hands.

When working on the root chakra, you should use the Gyana Mudra.
As you’re meditating, focus your energy toward the location of the chakra you’re working on.

To help ground you while you’re meditating, lay down, or sit against something for lumbar support. Do it outside if you can, in the grass. Make yourself aware of the earth beneath you.
In meditation, it is important that you don’t dwell on any one thought too long. Feel your breath as it naturally occurs. Feel the air enter your mouth and travel down your throat and into your chest. Feel the energy you’ve inhaled travel down your stomach toward your root chakra
Feel the energy you breathe in connect your root to the earth. Sit against a tree if you can. Feel your root against the roots of the tree. We are one with the earth - one living breathing organism. Let yourself connect to the rest of the world through the air you breathe in.
If you’re having trouble keeping your mind in one place, picture your thoughts as bubbles overhead. Each thought is it’s own bubble. Let them float past. Acknowledge them, but don’t engage. Do not pop the bubble.

Re-center your by bringing your mind back to your breathing
If you’re feeling solid enough in your meditation, chant the sound “LAHNG”

Do this for as many breaths as you feel is right.
Yoga is also perfect for opening any chakra, but make sure your stretches are focused on your root (between the genitals and anus)
Stand up straight and relax your body.
Plant your feet shoulder width apart.
Bend your knees just enough to relax them, or as much as you need.
Find the position where you feel most grounded or attached to the earth.
Roll your weight downward, bending at the hip.
You can take your hand and grab your opposit elbow with both arms to cradle your head. Rock your upper body back and forth if you feel inclined to do so. Keep your feet rooted to the earth.
Begin to contract your lower muscles. As you inhale, contract. Release with the exhale. Try to hold the contraction for the length of your inhale. Do not let your breath become shallow. The breath should be reaching your abdomen to allow the energy to flow to your root.
You can practice these contractions independent of yoga or meditation. This will strengthen your root and relieve anxiety as you have to put all your focus on your breath and muscle movements.
Taking care of your space can help with opening your root chakra. Consider substituting the dishwasher for hand-washing your dishes for a few meals. Clean out your household and your car. Donate any items you haven’t used in the past year. Clean everything. Stop when you’re tired
You can resume when you have the energy. Exhaustion will only do harm to your root. If you can’t find the motivation, consider meditating and promising yourself you will meditate until you feel rested enough to continue.
Make a list of things you can do to take care of your space that won’t be too taxing on your mind and body. Commit to completing those tasks within a timeline that is feasible for you.
Take a bath (after cleaning the tub) if you can. Bonus points if you have candles nearby. Bathe with any red crystal you can find. The best for opening your root are garnet, calcite, red carnelian, red jasper, rose quartz, hematite, sardonyx, cinnabar, and rhodochrosite
Do something to spark your creativity. Anything. Draw something, make something. Bonus points if it’s useful. Reminder that beauty is important and is useful.
Lastly, try to plant something. If you don’t have the space, buy a potted plant or visit a garden and appreciate the greenery. Touch some plants and let them touch you
Eat some hearty food. Stew is good.l to start with. For my plant-based friends vegan chickpea curry is a personal favorite of mine that is a good comfort food alternative.
Drink some vegetable juice. The redder the better. Beet and tomato juices are great.
If you have a body of water nearby, go stand barefoot in it. Feel the energy of the earth coming in waves and making its way toward your root.
Pick a day to wear as much red as possible. Head to toe in red. Feel your root expressing itself in your clothes
Immerse yourself in some earthy smells. Cedar wood, myrrh, patchouli, & bergamot are great for grounding yourself to the earth. Let the smells of the earth around you infiltrate your body and make its way to your root
Make a fire if you’re able. Imagine all the fire burning away all the thoughts that are carrying your head away from the earth. Remind yourself your root and crown are connected. Let the heat of the fire warm your feet. Feel that warmth make its way to your root.
Write a letter to your inner child. Remind them to ground themselves and give them some advice.
Remind yourself of the people and places that bring you peace. Why do they make you feel so good? How are they connected to the earth? How are they connected to you?
Tell yourself “I am that I am”
Tell yourself “I am secure”
“I am alive”
“I am safe”
“I am connected”
“I am nurtured”
“I am present”
“I am balanced”
“I am fed”
“I am clothed”
“The earth provides for me”
