Seems like every brand wants to build a community these days. @ModernFertility is actually doing it. How?

Below, 5 insights the DTC hormone test company's Head of Community @reinapomeroy shared w/ me that are basically a community-building roadmap (you're welcome).

THREAD...
1/ Use content to stoke the flames of community.

The MF team creates, curates and shares reliable info (blog posts, Webinars, and more) on all things fertility on its Slack channels. Given the lack of trustworthy information elsewhere, this drives a feedback loop of interest.
2/ Use your Capital C Community to stoke the fires of your lowercase c community.

Paying customers & super-users = "Capital C Community" and "lowercase c community" is everyone else. Reina's task: add value to the "Capital C Community" to grow the "lowercase c community" in turn
3/ Empower your experts.

Community members on the MF Slack often become experts, sharing resources and answering questions with newer community members. Reina encourages this: “People appreciate that they get to be a steward of somebody else’s experience."
4/ Choose a platform to host your community based on how you want members to use it

@SlackHQ allows for multiple topic-based channels so conversations stay focused, and help community members feel they’re in a safe environment, which often sparks raw and vulnerable exchanges.
5/ Build w/ a group of core users who exist to give you #realtalk

Building a great community means listening. To that end, MF has assembled a Community Advisory Board consisting of 10 women at different life stages whom the brand taps for feedback on many fronts.
