reasons to adore seventeen’s kwon soonyoung (hoshi): a thread @pledis_17
I notice that most of kpop twitter only really acknowledges hoshi for his tiger agenda, gemini chart, that one time he got lost at kcon, gay chicken rights etc. and though that isn’t entirely a bad thing, i’d like to point out the many other things to know and love about him~
(and if this has been done im sorry but i have a lot to say anyways GDJSHD)
1. His heart of gold
Hoshi is one of the most kindhearted people out there, he has donated to many different causes throughout the years, and never once wanted attention for it
(even going out of his way to tell the ceo he didn’t want the info to be leaked, but the company did so anyways)
On a number of different occasions, he’d propose paying for fans’ meals whenever he can (and he HAS done this before, offering to pay for carats’ meals whenever they see him in public), he’s also treated staffs food in the past +
+ like with the Dingo Fear recording behind the scenes, they were mostly just joking about the food, but he treated them anyways 🥺
Not to mention his love for his family, in one of their predebut 17 diary entries, Hoshi mentioned wanting to debut soon so that he’ll be able to help provide for them. He loves them so much, and they love and support him too.
2. His passion
(A lot of what I’ll say in this part largely applies to ALL of svt, but it’s too important not to note in this thread)
Hoshi’s passion for music and dance is SO admirable, not once has he or the group as a whole settled for less than what they’re able to give. He has mentioned before that he always aims for higher than 100%, so that even if he doesn’t exactly reach his goal, it’s still 100%.
He and the rest of the performance unit always go to different dance workshops, even outside of the country (like in Japan or the US), in order to improve in their craft. Examples of which are how Hoshi started learning acrobatics, or even Minghao exploring contemporary dance.
They all always keep an open mind and are ready to learn more about it, going above and beyond with each comeback.
It was also mentioned in TMI news that when Hoshi was in school, he wanted to join the dance club but found out that it was about to disappear because it lacked members, but he didn’t give up and established his own dance club called Deep Blue instead !!
As a choreographer, he always strives to tell a story with his dance, or generally fit it to the mood of the song. He’s also incredibly humble about it, and is always sure to thank the other choreographers that worked with him in making the dance.
He has also mentioned in 17 Project that he feels very responsible whenever he choreographs for the group, and felt worried about not being able to convey a message with their choreo.
Apart from dance, he (as well as the other members) always love learning new things that fuel their artistry or being idols, from learning new instruments like the guitar or piano, learning how to video edit and direct, learning new languages, learning how to produce music, etc.
3. His talents
All of SVT are all-rounders, and are able to thrive in multiple areas. Hoshi also showcases this very well. As a Main Dancer, it is understandable that he would thrive in dance (for all the reasons i mentioned in the previous section).
But his other roles (according to kprofiles) include being a Lead Vocalist (the only one who isn’t in the Vocal unit) and being a Sub Rapper. His voice is very versatile, and I’m no vocal expert but I’ll try to describe it the best I can.
It’s a voice that’s very powerful and full, and it’s capable of being full of deep emotion (Like in Lie Again or 247, the high notes !!) while also being fun and playful (Like in Swimming Fool , Pretty U or Thinkin About U).
His voice also sounds so interesting when he raps, somewhat gritty (if that’s the right way to put it), and even listening to his Change Up rap or Bring It rap side-by-side, though the songs’ tones are different, he pulls off both so well
+ (other notable rap examples are his solos Hurricane and Touch !!)

I’m not sure if this counts as a talent but I’d be remiss to not mention it, his stage presence and charisma !!
Watching fancams of him has always been so interesting because of how he pulls off any song’s concept with his facial expressions regardless of if it’s a fresh concept or a dark concept.
(personally, Hoshi is one of those idols that I couldn’t picture NOT being an idol,,, like it’s something that he’s really destined for, and the idea of him him not being onstage doesn’t make sense to me)
(side note: im always so thankful for Perf Unit songs for being able to showcase all their voices so well, it’s almost always our only chance to hear more of Minghao, Jun and Dino’s vocals and rap, and i wish they’d get more credit for the song itself apart from only the choreo)
4. His bond with all the members
(Honestly, ALL of svt love each other so much but i wanted to include this and focus on Hoshi specifically)
The members always mention how Hoshi helps brighten the mood before and during performances.
Sometimes when it gets really tiring, his ad-libs always serve to help encourage them to keep going, or to share his energy to the others 🥺
(ex. when they performed for 12 mins straight and Hoshi yelled “Go!” to give strength to the others)
He always looks out for them, and though we don’t know everything that happens behind the scenes, it’s obvious that he’s affectionate with them, and they are all very comfortable with each other.
(I don’t really know how to end this properly but i’ll just say this: Hoshi and all of SEVENTEEN are way more than just the “gemini boy”, “the boy that vibes”, “the bff guy” and so on, and I just hope that we all appreciate them for more than JUST those labels~)
(yes, this is a reupload because the thread i tweeted earlier was cut off :((( i blame bad wifi)
