Ive been thinking about the concept of objective morality and how it is fundamentally statist. Because if an objective *ideal* moral system exists, then that implicitly justifies the existance of coercive social structures.

sure *some* of these structures are bad, because they are founded on inaccurate morality, but if you believe that an objective morality exists, then you believe that as structures get closer to approximate this objective morality, they become better and better.

In theory then, a state that is good and just can exist that is founded on an objective morality. Where people are never imprisoned injustly, resources are given out fairly, and all people are treated equitably.

This is of course rediculous, as it is absurd to picture what an objective morality would even look like, and the good place does a very good job of taking the piss out of it with their absurdist points system.

Yet, it is the idea that our society, and more specifically our justice system is founded upon.

I just dont understand how you can seriously discuss the show without understanding and acknowledge this point.
