Mithun Chakraborty- The Underrated Superstar

This thread is about the life story of a Naxal activist who was once on the Bengal Police Wanted list and later became a Bollywood superstar.
After his brother's untimely death, he left Naxalism and returned to his family, joining the Film Institute and venturing into the world of cinema.
Director Khaja Ahmed Abbas learned about Mithun's early life and chose to play the lead role in the film about the Naxalites. That was the beginning. But the first release was the Mrigaya directed by Mrinal Sen. In the first film, he won the National Award for Best Actor.
After that, he acted in many films in Hindi as a hero and 2nd hero. He gradually rose to main hero and got many hits. However, he became a superstar with the epic success of his 1982 film Disco Dancer.
Mithun Chakraborty, who portrayed the hero Jimmy, became famous not only in India but in many parts of the world, including the USSR.
Mithun became a household name in Bollywood.
His good acting skills, ability to dance and do action better than many other Bollywood actors, and his aesthetic appeal made him a favorite among directors and producers as an actor who could cast himself in all kinds of films.
He also starred in action films like Wanted, Boxer, Tarkib, and family films like Pyaari Behana and Sun Sajna. Pyar Jukta Nahi, Kasam Paidakarne Vale Ki were huge hits. As his dance became so popular, break dance became an integral part of most Mithun films.
Commando, Vakt ki Awas, and Sasish have been successful even if they were regular Mithun masalas.
But by the early 90s, people got bored with typical Mithun movies. But Mithun didn’t get bored. He kept on doing mass masala action movies without giving any importance to the script. Some became hit, some failed.
The quality of the films declined and the number of failures increased. However, his film had a certain audience.
In the B and C classes, such low budget action spicy films ran without loss. Most of the Mithun films that come out are exclusively for such audiences.
In 1992, he again won the National Award for his performance in the Bengali film Taahedar (1992). Even then he was still performing in typical mass masala movies.
He did important roles in Jallad (Amaidipadayi) and Vivekananda. Mithun, who gradually moved into supporting roles, is still active in politics and films.
