Ask the postal worker if it's ok to take a selfie of you turning in your ballot. It couldn't hurt to show the judge that, if someone decides your vote doesn't count.

If going insider the post office isn't an option for you, then take a selfie of you putting your ballot in the mailbox.

Be your own advocate. Write down when and where you mail your ballot. And call 1-877-NJ-VOTER (1-877-658-6837) to make sure your ballot was received. If you want your vote to count, follow up is important.

If you don't get your ballot, or if it's wrong, go to one of the polling places in your municipality and ask for a provisional ballot. Any issues with your registration can be addressed later.

And seriously: don't use the sleazy @gannett voter registration tool. They are gathering email addresses and cell phone numbers to use for their own marketing purposes. Use the state Division of Elections website instead.
