A 🏈 Thread:

Corey Davis was drafted 5th overall in 2017, so I understand why the expectations for him are so high, & I understand the general disappointment surrounding his production thus far.

But Davis is a dynasty BUY, & I’m going to explain why...

In his rookie season, he had to deal with a tricky hamstring injury that first appeared in the preseason & lingered, causing him to miss weeks 3-7.

But he returned week nine & finished with 302 rec yards on 27 receptions (11.2 Y/R) during the final 8 weeks of the season...
In 2018, Davis had mini-breakout, finally showcasing his potential.

He played in all 16 games while catching passes from Marcus Mariota & Blaine Gabbert.

Still, he saw 10+ targets 4 times, two 125+ rec yard games, & ultimately 891 rec yards on 65 receptions (13.7 Y/R)...
It was reported that in 2019, Davis was dealing with a turf toe injury that he didn’t disclose at the time, which could explain why his snap% fluctuated between 88-62.

Also the emergence of A.J. Brown & Derrick Henry played a role in Davis’ improvements flying under-the-radar...
In 2019:
• Catch% 58.0➡️62.3
• True Catch% 75.6➡️84.3
• Drops 10➡️3
• Yards/Touch 13.3➡️14.0

These types of improvements are exactly what we’ve been waiting for, yet Davis is becoming a complete afterthought in redraft & in dynasty startups...
Remember, guys like Julian Edelman, DeVante Parker, Tyler Boyd, etc took years to finally breakout, it’s entirely possible that Davis is following a similar path...
The #Titans declined his 5th year option, so 2020 is a make-it or break-it year for Davis.

With Brown & Henry still around & producing, Davis will need to continue working on making the most of every target.

& it’ll only cost you a late-rd draft pick to find out if he does...
Corey Davis has only been a pro for 3 years.

Not all young WRs develop the same, not by a long shot. Davis has been a true project of a WR, & he’s gradually coming into his own.

& when he does, you’re gonna want to be the guy that owns him.
