#highered: I saw too many schools make fall announcements/have critical deadlines on July 2 (the day before a 3-day weekend). I saw some even on July 3 (!!!). Why are leaders doing this?! Your staff members are overworked and morale is low. 1/3

When is the best time to make announcements that you know will yield questions? Earlier in the day and week if at all possible.

Better planning ensures those who respond to phone calls/emails/SM messages are answering them during normal work hours-not nights/wknds/HOLIDAYS. 2/3

If that’s not possible (which happens in this changing COVID world), the very least leaders can do is acknowledge the extra effort staff members are putting in. Let them know they are seen, they are valued, and that you are available to support in whatever ways they need. 3/3
