1/ My father bought this 14K antique miniature watch for my mother for Xmas 30+ yrs ago. He showed it to me & we couldn’t wait to see her open it. When she did, she got enraged & started screaming at us, “Did you REALLY think that I would LIKE this”?? #maternalnarcissisim
2/ We were beyond stunned. As she marched out of the room, she screamed, “I wanted PEARLS!!” (She already owned pearls). I will never forget my father’s crushed look. He handed it over to me that day. #maternalnarcissism
3/ I treasure it . Imagine growing up with such a cold, detached & angry woman as she was. When I reduced contact with her later in life & it was one of the best things I ever did. Thankfully, I did not become her.
4/ 1more. I brought her home a beautiful tartan blanket in her favorite color (blue). When she opened it, I commented it was a good size to cuddle under on a cold night watching TV. She threw it back at me and screamed,"What do you think I am? An old lady!??" #maternalnarcissism
