I went to the hostel today and I was taken aback by a sore sight . Rats had found blossom in my sneakers and shelter wrapping their hairy body around my clothes. The soles of my shoes had become manna , my foodstuff consumed and excreted in my bed that became their latrine.

The scenery was beautified by the wetness of rain showers that had found route through the torn window nets and broken glass louvres . Sheets and shreds of paper scattered around like a finishing spray on bridal makeup.

The air smelt of happy rodents ,the pungent smell of urine , abandonment and despair.The silence was soon broken by my scream of shock and devastation and surprise. As mixed as my feelings became I could only laugh and yell “I’m in severe pains”
