#twitteroftime you know I love wholesome threads. Tell me about a time when someone did something simple and kind for you that you’ve never forgotten.
/ After my first child I had a significant case of post partum that lasted years. I felt very alone and had no friends in a new state. When we moved to the city we are in now, I enrolled my at the time 3 year old in a part time preschool for socialization.
/ The directer knew my name the first day and every day she’d stop to ask how I was doing. In fact she knew my husbands name, too, though I only told her once. When I got diagnosed with melanoma after my 2nd was born, she could see the stress on my face when I dropped off 1.
/ That’s how much she paid attention to me. She asked me what was wrong and I immediately burst into tears. It was the first time I understood and acknowledged the diagnosis. Two days later she gifted me a quilt that she had made with her prayer group.
/ It’s not just that act. It’s the way she treated me (and everyone) during some of the hardest years of my life. She made me feel important. I will never forget that and it’s something I strive to do for other people.
