Level up your marketing with @KateBour.

I've organized and condensed her (almost) last year's worth of tweets about creativity, customer discovery, copywriting, creating, & simplifying your message.

Check out what I've learned from this master at marketing!

Know Your Customer

🔸Marketers need to deeply understand their audience.
🔸The more you know about your customers = more revenue.
🔸You and your customer think differently.
🔸Good marketers = curious about people.
Your Customer Will Help You

🔸Your cust's have answers to product challenges.
🔸Talking to cust's solve many biz illnesses.
🔸Teams who talk to >10 cust/mo grow 2-3x faster.
🔸Understanding cust's buying triggers = massive advantage.
🔸Wowing current cust > beating competitor.
Don't Guess

🔸Not talking to customers is basically guessing.
🔸Survey data rarely shows an honest customer portrait.
🔸Solving existing problems > new inventions.
🔸Not knowing who the ideal customer is, makes finding them really hard.
🔸You cannot outsource customer empathy.
Unlearning

🔸Unlearning is a massively underrated skill.
🔸You must be willing to change your mind with new information.
🔸The most successful people learn to unlearn.
Create to Thrive

🔸Criticizing is easy; creating is hard.
🔸If you think you can do better, do it.
🔸Creating is not a passive activity.
🔸Create before you consume.
🔸Creating inspires copycats. That's good.
🔸Your own stories are the best original content.
Simplify to Improve

🔸Get to the point. More ≠ better.
🔸Cut filler to create value.
🔸Simple ≠ easy.
🔸Simplicity is beautiful when complex topics "click."
🔸Simple solutions often require complicated work, but sell better.
🔸Simplify your work. Do less & be remembered more.
Creativity is Cool

🔸Creative people schedule time to think.
🔸Creative ≠ success in the market.
🔸Creativity = rapidly generating ideas, see opportunities others miss, but also too many ideas.
🔸Fluff, click-bait ≠ creative.
🔸Sleep aids creativity.
Improve Your Message

🔸Clear message > clever.
🔸Listen before crafting the message to be clear.
🔸Less selling. More storytelling.
🔸Telling stories > "creating content"
🔸Keep repeating your message to be known for the theme.
Create Better Copy

🔸Less "we", "I", "our" & more "you", "your".
🔸Context is king. Copy should feel good in customer's context, not yours.
🔸Happy customers are the best copywriters. Listen to their stories. Use their words.
🔸What others say about you = powerful marketing.
