AAVE TO STOP USING IF YOURE NOT BLACK a thread;
overview:
aave stands for african american vernacular english, here’s the proper definition and the origin.
words to avoid:
finna, asf, ain, ong, period, sis, chile, gon, imma, yo (your), ratchet, ghetto, boujee, tea, thot,
any word ending with an “ing” but taking the g out (ex- trippin, buggin, simpin)
cho at the end of a word instead of your (ex- getcho things, shutcho mouth)
really quickly i just wanna say that if you follow me or you’ve seen any of my tweets you probably know that i’ve used some of those slang words before. i wanna let you know that i thought they were just “stan twitter slang” but after doing my research and educating myself more+
i’ve become aware that they are not just words and that i shouldn’t be using them, so from now on i’m going to stop using them. i also wanna clarify that i by no means speak for any black person so please lmk if i missed anything or if anything shouldn’t have been included.
ok last part; if you know you say or have said any of these things because you didn’t know, that’s fine as long as you stop now and educate yourself about why it was wrong. and please feel free to share this thread with other people to help educate them as well :)
