Alright, so for context, mom is a grade 2 teacher in a public school back in bicol and since DepEd started the whole whole idea of 'new normal' in education, a couple of teachers were tasked to attend a seminar to supposedly aid them for the incoming S.Y.
Today was their first session, they even bad experts and speakers to celebrate the start of the seminar. Cliche Ppts happened and finally it came to the interactive part.
And after all those reports and lectures they had a recitation, ofc since ayaw na raw ni mama matawag sa mga mahihirap na tanong she volunteered for the first question which was: For you, what is the best setting for learning?
Guess what? My mom said 2 words. "My classroom" & ofc everybody was waiting for a continuation since she basically just ignored the whole and sole purpose of the seminar. (P.S. This is happening in zoom)
At first I though my mom was just being unreasonable pero as she explained it to me, sobrang dami palang points na di niya nakita sa presentation ng mga speakers today.
(1) what happens sa mga students na di kaya ang online classes?
May student na siyang hindi nagenroll for the next SY kasi walang capacity yung family to support for this type of change.

(2) What happens if someone do enroll and still have no capacity to undergo the online classes?
They plan to send worksheets and modules to the brgy and the brgy will be distributing it to the kids in the area.

At first glance there is nothing wrong with this plan, except my mom as the teacher will be expected to go to all these brgys where her students live to give worksheets as well as collect it back when its done. btch you expect my mom to go around the city?!??!
Also, may mga brgy ng nagbibiro saying na dapat bawasan na raw yung sweldo ng teachers since wala naman na silang gagawin kundi maupo sa harap ng laptop at magcheck ng papers. Like hell, do they know how much hardwork these teachers give just to make decent activities?
To add to this, Walang benefits ang ganitong type of plan, instead these teachers will become frontliners circling around the area even with the pandemic because they care about their students and because the govt is pushing the responsibility to them alone.
I haven't even told you about the part where they will also need to educate not just the students but also the parents of these students to help the homes more conducive for learning. My mom will have to contact 32 parents every single day just to make this happen.
Oh and she's also supposed to train other teachers that weren't able to join the seminar since these teachers themselves don't know haw to work with gadgets and the mystery of internet.
They want my mom to train people online and teach stidentss online when she doesn't even have a stable internet connect and struggle on how to find a text box for her ppt.
Please understand that I am not belittling my mom, I am simply voicing out the fact that again this shtty plan isn't going to work if the govt does not support it and give the effort it actually deserves. They are dumping it to the teachers.
As someone who went through k-12, and as a daughter of a teacher who takes pride in her classroom which she remodeled using her very own money, I want to ask, why the hell do they keep pushing things when they aren't ready at all?
this thread went longer than I thought but I still have a lot in my mind. I also have to finish my mom's presentation for tomorrow's session. So, I guess I'll share it again soon.
