* MAHATMA GANDHI: “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall… Always.”
* ROSA PARKS: “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.”
* JOHN LEWIS: “You must be bold, brave, and courageous, and find a way to get in the way.”
* FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.”
* ELEANOR ROOSEVELT: “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the one thing you think you cannot do.”
* WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE: “Cowards die many times before their deaths.”
* LEONARDO DA VINCI: “It is easier to resist at the beginning than at the end.”
* DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.: “We must learn that passively to accept an unjust system is to cooperate with that system, and thereby to become a participant in its evil.”
* MAYA ANGELOU: “We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.”
* ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.: “Few will have the greatness to bend history, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. And in the total of all those acts, will be written the history of a generation.”

As Eleanor Roosevelt noted, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

We must continue to believe in beauty, in truth, and never allow the ugliness of bankrupt souls to corrupt our own sense of right and wrong.
We’ve never known how this story will end, the future remains unwritten. But each of us, resisting together, will be writing the history of this moment in time.
Let us remain fearless, united by a righteous strength, invincible in our certainty that to defend Democracy in autocratic times may be our raison d’être.

In other words, viva la résistance.
