Not to be overly optimistic, but it feels like the tide might have begun turning on Independence Day. DNC Media had a complete psychotic break after Trump's speech.

It's noteworthy that the Woke Jihad is suddenly in stealth mode. DNC Media outlets that were cranking out triumphant op-eds praising vandals and picking the next targets for destruction a few days ago are suddenly back to pretending political correctness doesn't exist.

Comparing a newspaper from late last week with the papers on Monday is like reading the papers from a "Man in the High Castle" alternate universe. Whatever could Trump have been talking about when he denounced left-wing extremism and censorship?

Gaslighting is SOP for the hard Left, but they don't do it when they think they're WINNING. When they're winning, they act like the Taliban galloping in triumph past exploding Buddha statues. When they're losing, their media suddenly starts pretending the extremists don't exist.

The media was in full-blown panic mode over Trump's speech. DNC Media thinks it still has some "credibility," and throwing it away to tell blatant, easily disproven lies about Trump's speech was a sign of fear and desperation.

The mainstream media no longer has the power to prevent people from reading the actual speech - there are too many alternative media outlets, a problem they're dying to solve if Democrats take power in November, but for right now they can't completely suppress news any more.

So whey they have a psychotic break and start gabbling like lunatics, it means they're playing defense - cranking out propaganda for their faithful lefty readers, trying to keep their morale up and reassure them victory is still in the bag.

Democrat politicians also went visibly insane over the weekend. Suddenly they're not acting like confident winners whose only big challenge is deciding what color drapes they want in their new offices. They're gibbering like lunatics about "dead traitors" and such.

It looks like the various quarters of the Left are all frantically trying to signal confidence to each other, with thought leaders pinging each quarter of the restless and extreme left-wing alliance to make sure they're all still marching in lockstep.

It's not all because of Trump's speech. They're still terrified the economy will rebound and the new coronavirus panic will fail to take hold. They're uneasy about public disgust with rioters and vandals that isn't showing up in presidential polls.

Most intriguingly, I get the sense Dems are worried about losing the black vote. Too many of the "Black Lives Matter" activists are white kids. They're worried about black voters who know they'll pay the price, in blood and tears, if the Left manages to defund the police.

Trump is coming out of the toughest stretch in his presidency, and he's made a lot of bad political calls, but he still has a strong platform to run on - the extreme Left made it much stronger through their antics - and just barely enough time to turn the election around.

So this weekend the Dems and their media went insane, because they're trying to bully Trump out of playing the winning cards, and they desperately want to frighten voters out of listening to him. They tried to make his Independence Day speech SEEM toxic so you won't watch it.

If there's a method to their madness coming off a very bad weekend for Dems, it's hoping that if they act like Trump's speech is pure concentrated evil like the Necronomicon - so "dark and divisive!" - they can panic some swing voters out of listening to a word of it.

The truth is only one click away in the modern era... but can you panic people out of twitching the handful of muscles they need to make that click? It's a desperate play, not a confident move made by surefire winners, and it can't work over an entire election campaign. /end
