You're very fair in your post and may Allah bless you. But the followers of the Shaykh only love and revere him. Worship is for Allah alone. That; he spent his entire life teaching.

The meaning of this is that anyone who approaches shirk left Shaykh
He has thought us nothing but holding tight to the Sunnah.

"Oh people, desert frivolities & hold on to Prophet Muhammad SAWS, else you'll always see me denying you"
Shaykh Ibrahim also said in his Risalatut Tawbah:
"Let everyone bear witness that we hold on to the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW ruggedly and we do not affiliate ourselves to anything except his (SAWS) Nahj".
In the same letter, he said: "I renew my will to you all; it is that you should bend down with the Qur'an, recite it, learn, teach it and reflect upon it. For indeed the Qur'an is the solid rope of Allah (Hablu-Llahi-l-mateen) and His manifest light (Nurul mubeen)".
Shaykh used to teach Taqwah at all times.
Shaykh used to pray against misguidance. He said:

"O Lord of Jibril (AS), the Faithful, establish our hearts upon the Sunnah of the Guide (Hadi)

And do not afflict us, O Allah with falsehood and false passion. Let us live on white (Islam) until the Day to Meeting".

~ Manasiku, Harfun Hamza, Bayt 19-20
Shaykh has lots of students, some of which are well known to us all as extremely pious Servants of Allah. Whenever you see or hear their names, they remind you of nothing but Allah, the Prophet SAW and the Deen. They didn't worship him.
Accusing the Shaykh of what a few people are doing after his departure is likenable to accusing Prophet Isah (AS) or Sayyidina Ali (KLW) for what the Nasarah and Ghullatu Shi'a are doing.

Remember that Allah SWT will not hold one responsible for the crime of another.
Expression of love for scholars & teachers is entrenched in the Deen & is not same as worship. The use of words in poetry & expression of love is obviously different from day to day usage. So don't be part of those who take words out of content as Allah has condemned such (Q4:46)
Some words are literally encompassing, but the user might mean a specification by them. Some words are synecdochal in usage. So be fair and make inquiry or leave it without imposing a false meaning to it.

I pray we all will one day overcome our differences. Amin.
