The people have spoken: Here are the results of our poll on renaming Mombasa& #39;s waterfront park. The winner is Mekatilili Wa Menza Park, but our Facebook Live with historian Stambuli today has us thinking of even more options. @msa_county - open it up for public participation!
Stambuli argued for the name Ras Mzimle, which he said was the original. For those of you who missed the interview, here it is. Very much worth a look if you& #39;re interested in Mombasa and Coast history: https://www.facebook.com/OkoaMombasa/videos/276327936805693/?__xts__[0]=68.ARAYY-hHo_-_Kor93nqZtKT3HTPBv1jblLGi92CZRiQVEto6LrG7gyDYtEmAev1MyujUaBZos8VOtNabwMajaGeKmzlB3p6yz4x9iEWtfHHwIgjMXN0ytQLN6kPP-Xl_nHMC2KEXhjg63qoO-3JhKs67NWdtEpvQ_amtRNzLy7tLI3h4ZssT07TM8mgSmTnVAZcC62Zi5wkIOEGpmvOOSC-MkxBKEcCUyY3RzXtbRMZD3XS1eifo0sQ9qkRqK57e2iR3FVS_sPa3p20_BotxKTVdpChQKwfGRtiJki7m9_-VxZXRC-brn24C0Yci62eNRSu7bshLNoWJlS8faoDZon2-MX209xrunvk&__tn__=-R">https://www.facebook.com/OkoaMomba...
To be clear, Okoa Mombasa itself has no position on one name or another. We& #39;re arguing for (1) changing the name to something more appropriate to Coast, and (2) public participation in that process. There are a lot of great choices - all better than Mama Ngina! #OkoaMombasa
