THREAD
It is quite remarkable how Sinn Fein repeatedly prove themselves dangerously incapable of effective leadership during this public health emergency. Below are six examples of their gross incompetency since lockdown began;
1)O’Neill performed a “hit job” on Health Minister Robin Swann by publicly criticising him as the peak approached. The criticism was personalised and set in motion a “blame game” mentality. It was both unwise and unnecessary - “never waste a good crisis” came to mind.
2)As NI prepared for worst-case scenarios unsure of how Covid-19 would develop, SF critcised the prospect of health assistance from the British Army. All other parties supported the idea and prioritised health. Unionists even claimed they would accept help from RoI if necessary.
3)SF Finance minister misled the public when he claimed a joint PPE order with RoI was “agreed” and would “satisfy our supply demands.” RoI officials confirmed no such order existed. SF are still stifling inquiries into the non-order by denying full disclosure to FOI requests.
4)SF have blocked the release of a Troubles Victim Pension scheme denying hundreds of innocent victims who were injured during the Troubles essential financial support. This is because there is a handful of former IRA terrorists SF also believe should be entitled to the pension.
5)SF allegedly delayed proposals of Free School Meals for children over the summer period as a consequence of blocking Troubles Victim Pension Scheme. Reportedly, a £12m package was to be signed off by Stormont but did not materialise because of the ongoing dispute over TVPS.
6.1)SF organised and attended an illegal and irresponsible mass gathering of hundreds for IRA terrorist Bobby Storey’s funeral. Five MLA’s have been reported for breaching MLA code of conduct and the Deputy First Minister has been asked to resign by all the other main parties.
6.2)SF bizarrely deny any wrongdoing and any need for disciplinary action. The funeral was insulting to those who have followed health advice & sacrificed giving their loved ones the send off they deserved. When it was SF’s turn to bear the brunt exceptions were inexcusebaly made
It is only the polarised & unaccountable nature of NI politics that allows this incompetent party to remain at the wheel. Institutional reform is required to reverse this endless cycle of unaccountability & re-election of those who only seek to divide and destroy our country.
