I know there’s a current issue with archaeology and planning policies in the U.K. right now so I get why the framing is necessary, but also imagine an archaeological practice that didn’t need to contribute to capitalism in order to exist?

again, totally get the need for that framing when trying to convince a capitalist government of why a practice is necessary!
but it’s also a bummer to see it being touted as a means of enhancing property values, you know?

I know there’s already a lot of very good work on capitalism and archaeology already but at some point when I’m not so depressed I’ll finally write a speculative blog post about an archaeology that is completely divested from capitalism
