I know there’s a current issue with archaeology and planning policies in the U.K. right now so I get why the framing is necessary, but also imagine an archaeological practice that didn’t need to contribute to capitalism in order to exist? 🤔
again, totally get the need for that framing when trying to convince a capitalist government of why a practice is necessary!

but it’s also a bummer to see it being touted as a means of enhancing property values, you know?
I know there’s already a lot of very good work on capitalism and archaeology already but at some point when I’m not so depressed I’ll finally write a speculative blog post about an archaeology that is completely divested from capitalism
