Positive?! We strongly disagree
Let's examine the two side by side. #thread https://twitter.com/Nakedsplendor/status/1279551975764512768
1/In Delacroix's 'Liberty', the Marianne, the national personification of France is protected by 3 men w/bayonets each 1 represents a social class...the worker, the student & the top hatted bourgeoisie. The phenotype of Marianne matches the men. She is their standard of beauty.
2/Nelson's reproduction treats his 'Liberty' as a lone warrior, no husband, father, worker or adult son to protect her. The nearest person is her son. If she is to be the new manifestation of Columbia, under whom all Americans are equal, she is UNPROTECTED, easily maimed+killed
3/If someone from the Palace, the seat of power, tries to attack Delacroix's 'Liberty' aka the Marianne, said powers will be met with brute force. The ideals, Liberte, Egalite et Fraternite, she represents & her phenotype must be PROTECTED at all costs.
4/If someone from the police line (strong arm of the ruling class) tries to attack Nelson's 'Liberty' aka the new national personification of the USA, a dark-skinned phenotypically Black woman Columbia, she will be the first to fall,

a human shield & sacrifice. Disposable
5/Phenotypically Black Liberty is not elevated as the standard of beauty in BLACK America and is seen as disposable LABOR, never attaining the Marianne's position.
6/The 'Marianne' is an exalted figure in France that graces government halls & courts & the face of coins, a reminder of what the French fought for ...Liberty

7/The exalted woman in the Black community is light, biracial, nonblack or ambiguous (due 2 #colorism) not Nelson's dark full lipped Columbia pictured left

Why isn't the woman on the right risking ALL to "lead the people?"

This is our grievance with Nelson's interpretation.
