since a lot of these little sevens are new to kpop and don't know anything (or maybe just choose to keep a blind eye) about MAMA then here's a thread as to why yg and sm stans hate it or find it uninteresting to watch

It all started in 2008 when SM declined mnet's exclusive distribution offer, SM was doing well and their groups were popular so they didn't need mnet's help in promoting their groups. As a revenge cj ent (mnet's parent company) tried to buy SM's stocks and take over the company.

They failed to do so and after that SM artists stopped appearing at m countdown for a while. In 2009, snsd was the nation's gg and their song "gee" became a hit. They won in all music shows except m countdown. SM artists didn't attend mama 2009 and surprisingly none of them won

any awards despite being very popular and successful. SM did temporary boycotts in 2010. In 2013 SM artists stopped promoting on m countdown again. In 2016 mnet deleted SM artists' performance videos with millions of views from their platform. SM officially boycotted mama in 2018

Now let's move on to yg's and mama's beef. Their issue was brought to light when gd pointed out mama's corruption and favoritism on his controversial rap in 2014. In 2015, yg revealed that none of their artists received an official invitation. However, the unfair distribution of

awards isn't the only issue here bc in 2017 yg recruited a lot of famous tv producers that came from cj ent (mnet's parent company). An example is Han Dong Gul which is the mastermind behind show me the money and produce 101. This caused to extend the wedge between mnet and yg.

Insiders speculated that there is indeed an issue going on between these two companies. In mama 2017 it was believed that they blurred out blackpink's faces with red as a revenge to yg but what they did was very disrespectful bc red is used for the dead and is believed to attract

bad luck. They responded with the backlash by saying that it was just a "technical error". Yg artists also got less nominations than expected and no wins at all. Let's go back to mama 2016 again, there was another issue between them and sm. There was supposedly a collab stage

between wiz kh*lifa and ta*yeon but due to mama's audio file issues, stage equipment problems, and A LOT of miscommunications it resulted to a big mess that caused unnecessary hate to ta*yeon but thankfully sones and kpop stans were there to protect and defend her.

The last issue that i'll talk about is the controversial mama 2017. MAMA cutted exo's performance, had audio problems, they dominated in all votings that they were in but won only one, exols' lightsticks were confiscated when exo performed, ppl were allowed to leave when exo

performed but when exols left after exo's speech mnets's guards didn't allow them and even pushed them to the barricades, exols were HARASSED. Here's a more detailed explanation:

With all this said y'all can't narrow it down to "they don't attend bc they're scared of bts" or "y'all just don't want rookies winning" bc there's a deeper explanation into all of this and it doesn't correlate at all with rookies nor bts.
