I’m going to have to stay off this hellsite today because the number of people already slapping gums and hot takes on news of gov’t theatre money WHO HAVE DONE NOTHING TO SUPPORT the endless efforts to get to this point...we have to stop elevating ‘influencers’ in the industry...

A HUGE WELL DONE to those that have worked incredibly hard, have had sleepless night and endless days trying to make SOMETHING happen for their fellow theatre workers. Those that have concerns of hundreds of jobs and lives on their shoulders, and kept on fighting, I SEE YOU

The work continues to ensure that there is clear strategic inclusive thinking about where the money goes. Those that have been going to those meetings to fighting for representation, inclusivity, visibility, disability, and freelancers, THESE VOICES ARE MORE INPORTANT THAN EVER.

And I would personally ask for less of our take, take, take industry. A less trickle down system. Less denial of the hierarchies in theatre - and more recognition of what that hierarchy looks and behaves likes. A more honest dialogue about who is really representing our industry.

More ‘working with’ of the communities around our buildings and work. More understanding that if we’re using the word ‘collaboration’ that it really means that. Less spokespeople for any group. Less cynicism because that shit is not what has kept people going in last 4 months.

Feeling very proud of those seen/unseen people that have sweated and cried and sacrificed their peace to get us here. No it might not be enough. Yes we know. No you’re not that clever for saying it. Yes it possible this horrendous time might make us stronger. Work towards that.

Special shout out to the incredible @FreelancersMake team who have worked almost continuously for weeks now to keep freelancer concerns, needs and faces on the agenda in everything. You have taught me so much about solidarity and hope and WhatsApp v Slack. We’re not done yet!
