Oh man
I just saw Jenny BOLT out of the dining room in pursuit of something small and gray
Gilbert sprang to his feet out of a dead sleep and levitated over to behind my mom's chair to cut off the intruder
The house tigers are on the hunt
Gilbert is guarding the back of the chair
Jenny is guarding the front
I put the footrest up on the chair so they could get inside
They seem to think the mousey is still hiding under the chair
Ah, to live in an old house
I wonder how they know how to pack hunt.
Jenny is clearly the most active partner in this hunt. Gilbert appears to be on standby. He's at the back of the chair. They have assessed the obstacle and decided likely escape points. Jenny is actively using her paws to try to extract the mouse and force it out of hiding.
Jenny has now moved around to the back and Gilbert is attempting to extract from the back of the chair. No one is watching the front of the chair. I wonder if they decided the mouse is just definitely not going out that way.
Jenny has laid down beside the chair.
Jenny apparently laid down as much for vantage point as she did to take a break. She's peering under the chair. Gilbert is listening very alertly and nearly jumped around to the front.
Jenny appears to be off her break and is now active hunter again. Gilbert is backup.
I gotta be honest, I definitely did not think Gilbert's hunting skills would be this good, he's like a stoner lead potato and his skills with Laser Mousey were hilariously bad.
Jenny just slapped Gilbert. Twice. I wonder if he lost it.
Oh. Gilbert is looking under chair again.
Jenny is taking a longer break. Gilbert is the active hunter now.

Jenny is on sniff patrol.
They appeared to have briefly gotten the mouse out of the chair, but couldn't get it out in the open because of the craft supplies currently beside my mom's chair.
Jenny was the active hunter for that bit. Now Gilbert is at it. I wonder if he's really good at flushing things out.
Jenny is lounging as if unconcerned but I know she's still engaged, her tail has a very deliberate crook in it I see when she's taking a break during play sessions.
Gilbert just let out a "prrrrrp?" Only maybe the third vocalization from either since the mouse appeared.
Jenny is in the hunt again. Gilbert is still on active hunt, but Jenny is at the back corner. I moved a blanket off the floor from the other side of chair. Gilbert is now scrabbling behind the chair where I can't see him.
he just shot out from behind the chair. Gilbert, I mean.
That mouse is having a terrible night
Jenny, now is not the time.
This thread is a prime example of why cats need to stay indoors. They are wired for murder. Our cats are basically large hairy purrtatoes that purr and want snuggles at inconvenient times. But they too are vicious killers. They don't need to kill that mouse. They WANT to.🐈
