Remembering trans lives lost in 2020, a thread.
Dustin Parker (1994 - 2020) was shot to death at 25 while working as a cab driver in Oklahoma early on New Years day. He is remembered as a loving husband and father.
Neulisa "Alexa" Ruiz (1991 - 2020) was shot dead at the age of 28 after using the women's bathroom at a McDonalds in Puerto Rico. Her harrassment and murder were filmed and uploaded online, and this is the only picture I can find of her that isn't from one of those videos.
Yampi Méndez Arocho (2001 - 2020) was shot to death in a park in Northwestern Puerto Rico shortly after his 19th birthday.
Monika Diamond (1986 - 2020) was already in an ambulance when she was shot dead at 34 in North Carolina. She was a known activist and businesswoman.
Lexi (1987 - 2020) was 33 when she was stabbed to death in Harlem by an unknown attacker. This is the only picture I could find of her.
Johanna Metzger (1995 - 2020) was stabbed to death at the age of 25 in Maryland. She was a college student and self-taught musician.
Serena Angelique Velázquez Ramos (1988 - 2020) was shot and burned to death at 32 while on vacation in Puerto Rico. She ran a YouTube channel where she taught her subscribers to read Tarot cards.
Layla Pelaez Sánchez (1999 - 2020) was 21 when she was shot and burned to death alongside Serena Ramos in Puerto Rico. She is remembered by family as an "easygoing young woman".
Penélope Díaz Ramírez (1988 - 2020) was stabbed and hanged to death at 31 after being sent to a men's correctional facility in Puerto Rico. Her death went unreported for nearly 2 weeks. This is the only picture of her available online.
Nina Pop (1992 - 2020) was stabbed to death inside her apartment in Missouri at the age of 28. She was well known and well liked in her area, and is remembered as a very happy person.
Helle Jae O'Rae (2000 - 2020) was stabbed to death while working at a barbershop in San Antonio, three days after her 20th birthday. She is remembered as bright and optimistic by those who knew her.
Tony McDade (1982 - 2020) was shot dead by police in Florida at the age of 38. He was killed after allegedly pointing a gun at police, however witnesses say there was no weapon present.
Dominique "Rem'mie" Fells (1993 - 2020) was beaten, stabbed to death and dismembered at the age of 27 in Pennsylvania. She was a freelance fashion designer and organized a fashion show for trans empowerment in 2019.
Riah Milton (1995 - 2020) was shot to death in Ohio after her murderers attempted to steal her car. She is remembered by family as joyful and outgoing.
Jayne Thompson (1987 - 2020) was shot dead by Colorado State Patrol at 33 after she was found unresponsive outside a marketplace. When State Patrol woke her she became confused, grabbed a knife she carried for protection and ran. She was shot 4 times.
Selena Reyes Hernandez (1983 - 2020) was shot dead in her Chicago apartment by one of her nearby neighbours after he learned she was transgender. Not much is known about Selena, but she is buried in Mexico.
Brayla Stone (2003 - 2020) was a 17 year old high school student and musician from Arkansas. Details surrounding her case have not been released and many early reports are misgendering her. It's believed her murder may have been a paid hit.
Merci Mack (1998 - 2020) was shot to death in a parking lot in Texas at the age of 22. She was a restaurant worker and an amateur baker.
Draya McCarty (19?? - 2020) was found dead in Louisiana just days before Shaki Peters (1988 - 2020) was found dead about an hour away. Little to no information has been released on either woman or their killer(s). They are currently being reported as potentially related events.
Bree Black (1993 - 2020) was shot to death outside her home in Florida at the age of 27. Not much is known about Bree or her killers at this time, and most reports have been misgendering and/or deadnaming her.
