{THREAD} Finally, I have found out why I hate owning KDB in my FPL team although I think he is the best player in the PL.

Here, I will compare the performance of KDB and Salah (for reference) in the relatively easier games and the tough games.
From the expensive players, I want captaincy options in the games against relatively weaker teams. So, I decided to divide the PL into two categories:

Tough - Liverpool, City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, SHU, Wolves, Everton

Easy - The rest eleven teams
Ideally you would want to captain the likes of KDB/Salah against the weaker teams. I compared the performance of KDB and Salah against the weaker teams and the tough teams separately. I only looked at the games when these players started the games to avoid bias.
Average PPG, Double-digit returns/games started, Any returns (>3)/games started

KDB
Total - 7.6, 8/28, 19/28
Easy fixtures - 7.58, 4/13, 8/13
Tough fixtures - 7.62, 5/15, 11/15

Salah
Total - 7.1, 8/29, 18/29
Easy fixtures - 8.25, 6/16, 11/16
Tough fixtures - 5.62, 2/13, 7/13
- KDB is super consistent. He doesn't care about the tough fixtures
- Salah performs much better in the easier fixtures when you would like him to captain your team compared to the tougher fixtures

Salah is a much more reliable captaincy candidate for the easy fixtures
The performance of KDB in easy/tough fixtures is not a coincidence.

In the easier fixtures, KDB starts with one DM and one AM. In the tougher fixtures, Pep usually plays 2 DMs leaving KDB to play a more advanced role. @lateriser12 mentioned this in one of his tweets recently.
I looked at the average positions of KDB (credit @SofaScoreINT) in City's last 3 tough and 3 easy fixtures.

Tough fixtures - Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal

In all these fixtures, KDB's average position is pretty high, sometimes just behind the striker. KDB is no. 17
Now, KDB's average position in City's last 3 easier fixtures: Newcastle, West Ham, Crystal Palace. No. 17 is KDB.

In these games you will see the front 3 (and sometimes the front 4) ahead of KDB.
Summary
- KDB is a keeper - consistent throughout the season
- But, he does not explode in the easier fixtures like a Salah. Salah becomes the better captaincy candidate for the easier fixtures
- I should add that KDB is just the best player in the league POTY 2019-20

I usually hate captaining KDB. I looked at whether there is any underlying reason for my preference. Give this a read.
