I find statements about communism not doing x, suspicious. It at the very least makes me question basic your understanding of basic historical facts. Communism, which is stateless and moneyless, does not exist. Also, since even before WWII, there’s been constant sabotage
By western capitalist powers to see that communism never comes to fruition. Cold War, Red Scare, ring a bell? Additionally, American chattel slavery was the primitive accumulation of capital of the U.S. Race and capitalism are inextricably tied
So now, abolishing capitalism will not abolish the N-word, the hypersexualization of Black bodies, racist terrorism and other manifestations of anti-blackness, but poor material conditions are also part of the anti-blackness puzzle.
Poverty, especially under neoliberalism, is an anti-Black tool of oppression at the intersection of race and class. The obfuscation of one your face racism with economics, states rights and taxes is quite literally the Southern Strategy.
The wars on poverty, drugs are every bit as much an anti-black settler colonialist, imperialist project as it is capitalist. I don’t understand why if we can’t abolish it all, then we shouldn’t try implication.
The political imagination of lifting millions of long suffering Black folks out of the back breaking margins that capitalism has pushed them to, in the immediate, saves lives. Very basic social determinants of health stuff here.
Maybe the project is done in steps (and I’m not talking nonsense liberal incrementalism) but in abolishing the material oppressions of capitalism we can also dismantle white supremacy from which this particular strain of capitalism sprung out from?
Idk, just a thought. I don’t think it’s an and/or but a both/and. I also have issues of distinctions that still work within white supremacist framework like the very notion of Black = Slave. I think if we’ve been essentialized, pathologized, biologized by
the white hegemony that sees itself as human and all others as well, other, it’s a little strange to work off that very same framework. Humanity, I don’t believe, should be conflated by Whiteness.
I don’t think class struggle alone can dismantle white supremacy which is why I think approaching things dialectically helps here because with that we can rid the superstructure and all of its reinforcements like white supremacy, heteronormativity, patriarchy, etc.
I really think multiple things can happen and like dear @afrociclismo says, it can be realized with a strong people’s state!
