Day 89 of life with lingering #covid19 symptoms, and this really is an unpredictable rollercoaster ride. Writing this thread to remind people of why they should continue to take precautions and reduce their risk of getting the virus #longcovid 1/n
My headache lasted the entire day yesterday, and the wave of fatigue (body and brain) that kicked in left me feeling like a zombie all day yesterday, with much of the day spent in bed https://twitter.com/ManeeshJuneja/status/1279679180439990272?s=20 2/n
On top of that, early evening last night, I had nausea (first time since my symptoms began), which seems to have morphed into abdominal pain this morning after waking up (second time since symptoms began) 3/n
The symptoms vary in intensity throughout the day. For example, yesterday, there were moments standing at the bottom of the stairs at home where I felt like I was about to climb Mount Everest (in terms of focus and effort needed), and other moments where it wasn't as taxing 4/n
I wanted to clarify that I'm not disheartened by my situation at all, I'm very chilled out and in good spirits 😃 Just taking it one moment at a time. I share my updates on here to help others better understand what it's like to be a "long hauler" 5/n
So the NHS is launching this new online rehab service for those living with long term effects of the virus. However, what is needed by many (including myself) is speedy access to specialists and diagnostic tests to rule out complications

So looks like there is new research starting with respect to studying long term effects of covid-19. I'm disappointed that it's only looking at those patients who have been hospitalised (many have not, including myself) https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jul/05/scientists-investigate-cases-of-post-covid-19-fatigue 7/n
I have no idea why in the previous article, the UK health secretary claims the scale of the problem with #longcovid is difficult to gauge - the covid symptom study has already found it affects 1 in 10 patients https://covid.joinzoe.com/post/covid-long-term 8/n
We do need to figure out as much as possible about these long term issues as a result of covid-19. I also think we need to be careful of saying it's ME/CFS as science still knows very little about what's going inside the bodies of those with #longcovid https://twitter.com/ElianaUku/status/1279758581542408199?s=20 9/n
Some good news. The abdominal pain seems to be decreasing in intensity as I've written this thread and the insomnia that affected me for the last few weeks seems to still be absent (I hope it stays away!) - Off to watch the sunrise now 🙏🏽/end
