A few weeks ago my mom received a suspicious package at the facility where she was getting treated for COVID-19.
No one outside of our immediate family knows where she was being treated. The package was addressed to her, name misspelled, to her exact room number.

We immediately reported the package to local authorities. Bomb squad was called + the FBI because of our open case w/ a previous death threat. It was an empty electrical box.
The police gave us their theory about how this could have been “an accident.” NO FURTHER INVESTIGATION.

The police closed the case. They never answered our Qs about the package. The FBI requested our county prosecutor’s office to look into the case. I just found out they rejected the request.

It’s unacceptable that the county is willing to risk my family’s safety in the current climate, even rejecting an FBI request.
It’s unacceptable that Black & brown people can’t trust our institutions to protect us.
