"Don't worry," they said. "It will be fine," they said.

"There won't be blood in the streets," they said.

The Missouri legislature said this for years while passing dangerous gun laws. #moleg
60+ children have been shot, 12 fatally, in the City of St. Louis since the start of 2020. St. Louis Children's emergency room saw more children with gunshot wounds in May of this year than it has seen in any month in the hospital's 140-year history. https://tinyurl.com/y9g98twp
Missouri's gun-related suicide rate is almost 50% higher in rural counties than in urban counties. https://publichealth.wustl.edu/missouri-gun-related-homicides-and-suicides-2015-16/ One example, Jefferson County: suicides, 61; homicides, 7.
I could go on. There is blood in the streets.

Many of those killed are CHILDREN.

The results are in. The legislature's actions have not resulted in safety. The results are increased levels of gun violence: homicides, suicides, unintentional shootings throughout Missouri
"There won't be blood in the streets" I've heard countless times in the halls and committee rooms of the Missouri State Capitol.
To continue down this road would be foolish and dangerous. We need real solutions.

Taking action to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers *should* be an area of bi-partisan consensus. However, the MO legislature has failed to do even this. Even after promising to take such action over 4 years ago.
I'm hearing talk about...talking about solutions....again. Talk is cheap unless it leads to action.
