Logging back on after being quiet online for most of this year for several reasons. A main reason is the purposeful disorganization of @nonewjails_nyc since January, by members of @WA_Tweets and @TakeBackTheBX, because I let my comrades know a Why Accountability member is a cop.
Here's my full statement on a parole officer's affiliation with the supposedly police-free FTP formation, the harm done by not only WA and TBBx but also by groups like @decolonize_this and @WeKeepUsSafe that knowingly condoned it, and my own responsibility https://nabilhassein.github.io/blog/wa-tbbx-statement/
This is the "blind item smear campaign" @WA_Tweets dishonestly referred to here -- me sharing with @nonewjails_nyc leaders public information, which WA directly confirmed to me was accurate when I reached out to them. And yes, a parole officer is a cop. https://twitter.com/WA_Tweets/status/1216753474463043587
I've had private conversations about this for months. I now take it public because of the continuing harm these people commit through disasters like #FTP4, and because last Sunday, one of the same TBBx members who raided our internal NNJ meeting assaulted some of my comrades.
My position is very simple: cops including parole officers, and people who unrepentantly commit transantagonistic violence while spouting misogynistic and nativist rhetoric, do not belong in the abolitionist movement. If you disagree, you are not my comrade or my friend.
I am also speaking up now in solidarity with others who had similar experiences in attempting to address police affiliation in FTP, and with survivors of gender violence who endured abuse within NNJ. I will share links to my comrades' writing as soon as it is public.
There are many more individuals and groups who should take accountability than those specifically named so far. I hope people will do so willingly, honestly let their folks know where they have been out of the loop and/or out of principle, and move towards repairing harm.
