THREAD: Let’s clear some stuff up. It doesn’t matter if it’s on Twitter or Facebook, but the past several days I have been hearing the SAME EXACT narrative come out of the discussions I’ve had with dozens of people over multiple platforms. 1/
None of them have any relation to each other, and some of them aren’t even in the same state or sometimes the same country, and the same parroted talking point is coming out. Goes something like this... 2/
“oh well the deaths aren’t even the most important thing this virus is new and we know people can have longterm effects from this virus and they may never fully recover.”

STOP SAYING THAT!!! It’s not true and none of the data bears out anything even remotely like that. 3/
This must be the new narrative because everyone is saying the same thing. The one which gets everyone to just put on that mask! STOP IT! Can this virus cause long term effects? Maybe. It may be possible but it’s also possible for other viruses to do the same including the flu. 4/
A bout with a cytokine storm is not good and it can leave people suffering for a very long time. This is NOT common though regardless of the illness. That’s why you don’t know about it. Guess what? It’s also not common with SARS-cov2. 5/
Definitely some people can be affected that way but the VAST MAJORITY of people have mild to no symptoms and recover fully in a couple of weeks. As deaths are still dropping even as cases “rise” this new narrative gets people to stay afraid. 6/
And no, people are not walking around with “glass-like opacity in their lungs.” There was a small study which found some people who were not showing symptoms had lung inflammation that the researchers did not think was permanent and more akin to walking pneumonia. 7/
And because we don’t check asymptomatic people with other respiratory illnesses, the flu is mostly asymptomatic, we don’t know if this also happens with other illnesses. So please, stop passing along nonsense. We know more about this virus every day. 8/
We will learn more as we go along but passing on a narrative just to push other narratives is simply wrong. All you do is scare people. If an article says “experts are increasingly saying” disregard it. 9/
If they can’t name the study and link to it, it usually isn’t true, and often when they do link to it, the actual study doesn’t say what the article is telling you it says. And that’s not good news. 10/end
