we have to get better at the long fight. that doesn't mean not celebrating triumphs along the way, but i'm embarrassed to see people praising/thanking our gov. for the scraps we've been thrown when they're literally defunding the arts + cultural sectors right in front of our eyes

our gov. have very much proudly shown us that they care more about building new prisons and furthering the school-to-prison pipeline than they do any of the kids you've all been using as a vice to evoke empathy from them. they don't care about early artistic intervention.

they don't care about your theatre-to-TV threads. they don't care about the communities that seek refuge in truly civic cultural spaces. and we're clapping for them?

we should never, ever be afraid to say that we deserve more. that we NEED more. that we will not be wrestling over breadcrumbs like a flock of birds. this isn't a game.
