After writing the below, I noticed you've deleted your tweet on @jk_rowling , @JoyceCarolOates . I'm left feeling I should maybe hold off tweeting this? It is a heartfelt appeal, but perhaps you might read later if you feel your twitter experience was rocky today. 
It's a funny thing: While I haven't yet read any of JKR's fiction (sorry, JKR. I intend to.The Latin translation of the first HP book I just learned about is calling to me. What challenging fun!), my admiration for her is enormous. She learned what has been going on
-to women, survivors, gender non-conforming LGB & autistic kids, lesbians in the "community," transsexuals labeled TruScum -; did her research,; and, knowing full well what would be heaped upon her, spoke out in defense of all of the above. Honestly, I'm in awe of that decision
and her continued grace.

"No Debate!" has been the response to anyone asking questions or expressing concerns about changes in language and law. Women, particularly lesbians, have been labeled TERFS, a term that carries a mountain of baggage: vivid threats of beatings, burnings, beheadings and rape with
with barbed-wire covered, pink & blue baseball bats. http://Terfisaslur.com (a document) It's a very handy little shortcut word to tell any & all uppity women to sit down, be quiet, - or else. Women have been doxxed, libeled & slandered, lost jobs and been attacked in real life
for daring to ask questions & assert #sexmatters.
The needs of & protections against discrimmination of trans people must be addressed & fully realized in society. These important advances must not come at the expense of the sex class formerly known as women or of homosexuals.

I would be happy to point you in the direction of resources discussing concerns about, among other things, provisions for female victims of rape/domestic violence; safety of prisons in light of male offenders' ability to self-ID as women & receive placement in the female estate;
integrity of statistics used in law enforcement, by public policy think tanks, in medical research, etc.; effects of self-ID on the push for sex parity on corporate boards/awards/political representation; the impact on women and girls' sport when different feds increasingly allow
non-op, non-testosterone suppressed males to compete in the female category (Even with testosterone suppression, male puberty confers considerable and lasting advantages -girls and women are now losing team slots, medals, scholarships and endorsements.)
The incredible @Martina looked into the situation last year of Women & Girls' sport and -again even knowing the tsunami of abuse that would come her way - spoke out for fairness.
I have grave concerns about all of the preceding. I am personally frantic about the many thousand percent explosion in the lifelong medicalization of children, the majority of whom would grow up to be healthy LGB happy with their bodies, sexual function and fertility intact, with
Watchful Waiting and therapy instead of instant Affirmation, puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. (Despite what the deafening roar online would have us assume, many trans people -and detrans people- share these concerns.)
