I’ve been wanting to say how much I love the #TheLastofUsPartll and since Ive seen so many awful things said to a bunch of the devs and actors on here, I thought this would be apt to spread some love! (Thread: Possible Spoilers ahead!)
@Neil_Druckmann and @Grosstastic thank you so much for creating such an intense and harrowing journey that challenges players to sit in discomfort, push through the uncomfortable, and hopefully come out the other side reflecting on oneself and the world around us (1/4)
I’ve never played a game that made me PLAY through the humanization of the “villain” and ultimately had me conflicted in the fates of both Ellie and Abby. To take a nonlinear story like this where its usually in passive experiences (ie tv, movies), then put it in a medium (2/4)
Where players have agency, was such a bold move that should be praised. Thank you for making a story that is so human. Thank you for placing us into all the stages of revenge including the aftermath, when the deed is done and when it is not. (3/4)
You didn’t give us the “fun” parts of revenge, where we feel good and justified. You gave us the ugliest parts, the depressing and conflicting parts. But at the end of it all, while it was a sobering experience, I can feel the light and love coursing through all of it. (4/4)
Now to @booncotter, you don’t know me, but I have followed your twitter for awhile haha. 80% of my playthrough was “my god, look at the lighting!” Hats off to you and the lighting team! Absolutely atmospheric and jaw dropping! Ps. You and your husband are absolute goals.
@Beavs I’ve followed your art for some time and I loved all the concept art you’ve posted on Twitter and your art shown in the game! Beautiful work further enriching these characters!(Also was it you who was in charge of the art in Ellie’s journal? cuz loved that!)
@TheVulcanSalute not sure how I can articulate how much you as a person and as Ellie mean to me. When you graced my tv back in 2013 as this witty and sassy 14 year old, I knew you had created a powerful character that so many people can look up to for so many reasons (1/3)
And then when Left Behind came, I was floored to see an LGBT protagonist icon in the making. Especially in Part II, Thank you for portraying LGBT representation with all the nuances, all the flaws, all the humanity that there is in every single one of us. (2/3)
I then found Critical Role, where I was able to feel what an absolute joy of a person you are. Your heart and your soul is so tangible in all you do! You as Ellie, you yourself are pure fucking magic. I hope you know that and continue being a kickass beautiful human being! (3/3)
@TroyBakerVA I believed in every word you said and the moments in which you were silent. You as Joel bare your soul for us to see and its breathtaking. You fill the room; captivated me with your energy. You are nothing short of masterful. Would I do it all over again? Fuck yes.
@LauraBaileyVO this thread was made because I thought of you and the response you’ve been getting. Just let me tell you, you are an undeniable force. I was able to connect with Abby because of how complex you portrayed her. (1/2)
The strength, the vulnerability, and all her humanity could only be done through you. Thank you and the team for serving us diversity in so many aspects. If I could I would stop the threats because you don’t deserve any of them. Ps. You, Travis and the babe are also goals. (2/2)
Just the @Naughty_Dog team as a whole, thank you for giving me a game where I can see so much of myself and the people I surround myself within your characters. Thank you for pushing the game industry even further in many aspects, whether that be technical or sociopolitical.
