Gonna watch REDS. I've never seen REDS. Will report back in 3.25 hours.
Taking a midpoint break to whip up some French toast (do I know how to live or what?) and I love it so far.
So much is made of Beatty's ego as a filmmaker but I honestly am not seeing it in the finished product. This movie is a love letter to the greatness of Diane Keaton.
That was exactly the kind of historical epic I love. Talky, hyper-focused on one relationship. Gorgeous, unshowy photography by Vittorio Storaro and not a weak performance in sight. Diane Keaton. Diane. Keaton.
Nicholson's O'Neill is magnetic. You feel his absence for the long period he disappears from the movie, so you continue to doubt the central relationship along with Louise. Also appreciated the film's sense of humor and resistance to self-serious drudgery. Streaming on @Kanopy.
