Uhh am I supposed to be comforted by my pastor describing Issac’s unwed and childless state as his failures but reminding us that god has mercy even when we fail? A side note in a good sermon but a dagger at me personally.

Issac was supposed to be the start of a nation and yeah he was supposed to get married and have kids, but can we not call being unwed and child a failure? As someone who has always wanted to find a partner and have kids but who hasn’t had the opportunity, that fucking hurts.

And the sermon was great and the message was about being honesty about our own failures and those of our heroes, specifically our nation’s founders. It doesn’t mean that the words about Issac don’t hurt.

Oh ok now it’s Issac’s weakness and brokenness. Love it.
