“The media isn’t reporting on this!”

First, do a Google. If it’s true your local newspaper, nonprofit outlet, radio or TV station isn’t covering something, TELL THEM ABOUT IT.
If “the media” isn’t covering something, they likely haven’t heard about it yet or don’t have the resources to immediately work on a story.

But if you think they’re missing something important, keep pushing! Challenge them. Ask why they aren’t out there.
I can’t speak for national media, but in my time at local outlets, we were thrilled to get a good tip. Some of my best and most impactful stories came from a tip and were on a subject I maybe knew nothing about previously.
Most people who are part of “the media” live in your communities. They care about what’s going on and want to serve their readers/listeners/viewers, but we can’t be everywhere at once. If we’re missing something, help us out!
Phew this got some attention, so I’ll add that I was laid off from my newspaper in May & I am currently looking for a job — please hire me 😇
