I spent my youth having people assume (often just tell me) I was a lesbian.
It was confusing because knew I wasn't. For one, I was attracted to men. But that was only part of it. I didn't have words for the rest.
So I knew life would be easier if I could *just* be gay.

Thankfully, at uni I found another possibility to slowly explore.
I wasn't slow to self-ID as trans (it felt right straight away) but painstakingly explaining it to friends, family and doctors took years, even as an adult.
That timescale was mandatory and now takes far longer.

If, @jk_rowling, you cared about trans people, you'd simply support us (not just our very own Roy Cohns).
If you cared about trans men, you'd listen to us.
If you cared about young lesbians...
If you cared about trans women...

If you cared about young people, you wouldn't be seeking to undermine the global consensus around mental and physical healthcare for LGBTQ+ youth.
(You might instead spend some energy and money campaigning against unethical "corrective" surgery on intersex children).

If you want to support LGBTQ+ youth, there are lots of organisations you can reach out to.
If you want to understand trans healthcare, ditto.
If you want to talk to a trans man for reassurance, you can reach out to me or many of the several million like me.

But of course, you won't. Because you don't.
What you want is for us to get on board with your essentialist gender theory and your exclusionary feminism.
Then you want trans people to disappear, voluntarily or by oppressive legislative and cultural force.

Joanne, mate, it's not going to happen.
