for quite sometime i& #39;d subscribed to the belief that content produced on tiktok is v substandard/cringe. However, few months into using the app i& #39;ve been amazed by how it& #39;s carving space for & giving a platform to ppl from diff sections of society to express themselves.

This video alone pulled a viewing of 1.6 million people & translated to about 100K likes. This is amazing outreach.

a space for rappers and music artists. this boy started as a nobody rapper on tiktok and now his videos pull an avg viewing of 500K. Here he is seen jamming with amanat ali.
a space for mimicry artists. a farmer from a rural area who now has over 1 million likes on his videos.
a platform for after effect & vfx artists. this guy from rural punjab is a big fan of the avengers. his video edits pull an avg viewing of 250K & has over 2 mil likes. Another example of how tiktok is enabling talented individuals to come forward despite their disadv backgrounds
the app has honestly made me realize how we have a goldmine of talent just left undiscovered.

but beyond all this i believe the greatest impact its had is that it has opened space for the common man for political critique. it has truly democratized opinion sharing. This deserves a whole other thread (& im hoping to write sth on this v soon) but here are some example
the nature of political dissent is so grassroot and has such amazing outreach, its unprecedented in the history of information sharing. For example this video fetched close to 10 million views and 500K likes in 2 weeks.
for me tiktok has great potential as a medium of getting your message across to a larger, grassroot audience. We are living in the information age. Information is power. & Information precedes change. It is on those with influence to use this power to spread positive messaging.
