I've been trying to grasp my feelings about the entire Mitch Trubisky saga for some time.

Why am I so upset by it?

It isn't like he's the first QB the #Bears have whiffed on. One would think they'd all blur together, right?

I think I figured it out.
What hurts most about it is the team did everything right. For the first time in forever, they got themselves into a position where they could take the first quarterback in a draft.

Not just a regular one too. A draft that seemed strong at the position. #Bears
Think about it. In years past, they seemed to hit their low point too early.

In 1982, they grabbed McMahon. One year before Elway, Marino, and Kelly arrived in '83.

In 2003, they took Grossman. One year before Manning, Rivers and Roethlisberger arrived in '04. #Bears
Everything finally lined up in 2017. They had the #3 pick and their choice of any QB available.

It was the best opportunity they've ever had...

...and they blew it.

They got the fastball right down the middle and still swung and missed. That is what hurts the most. #Bears
It's one thing to overlook a future gem like a Tom Brady or Dak Prescott.

This was the scenario few teams actually get to see. A top pick with every QB available. Something worth tanking for.

A chance to finally get out of purgatory only to get cruelly shoved back in. #Bears
Trubisky isn't a bad QB. By #Bears standards, he's better than most we've seen. That doesn't mean much though.

Compared to Mahomes and Watson, he's wholly inadequate.

Which is a shame because he's a good kid. Works hard. He wants it. If anything, that just makes it worse.
We finally get a guy who embraces the city, embraces the fans, embraces the work, and has the talent to be great.

Yet he's missing that one critical "it" factor that separates the good quarterbacks from all the others.

It just sucks. #Bears
