10 Lessons from Kanye.

President Kanye. Why not? Every step of his career people laughed "you can't be a rapper", "you can't be in fashion!", etc. Last week Kanye announced a deal with "The Gap" and their stock went up over $1 billion in seconds. (1/x) #Yeezy2020
Kanye produced one of the greatest rap albums of all time: The Blueprint, by Jay-Z and he wanted to break out as a rapper. Jay-Z felt he was just a producer and his middle-class background had people in the industry telling him "you can't" make it as a rapper. (2/x)
Kayne Lesson #2: Don't let other people define who you are.  “Everyone's always telling you to be humble. When was the last time someone told you to be great?”
Lesson #4:
His mother, a professor said, ""It was drummed into my head that college is the ticket to a good life..For Kanye to make an album called College Dropout it was about having the guts to embrace who you are, rather than following the path society has carved out for you"
Lesson #5: Idea sex
Idea sex: "The College Dropout", his first album. He didn't imitate the gangsta-style records he was producing for, he combined: children's choirs, gospel music, orchestral music, soul, R&B, chain gang chants. Who take a chance against EVERYONE's advice?
Lesson #7: Look to everyone for inspiration
In "Graduation", West went further from his rap roots and was influenced by U2, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash. The album hit #1 instantly and sold 1mm records its first week. DON'T PLAY IT SAFE! Then you die.
Kanye lesson: Don't outsource your self-esteem to brands: People feel they become important when they associate themselves with brands they feel are important. Kanye was determined to become his own brand. Don't outsource your self-esteem:
Kanye lesson: You can do anything: When he went into fashion "The Telegraph" wrote "Stick to your day job, Kanye!" He sold $1.3 billion worth of shoes last year. The Gap stock went up over $1bb in value in 20 seconds when he announced their deal last week.
President Kanye: Everyone is already laughing at him. They laughed at every change in his career. He has said and everyone shoud listen: "Love your haters, they're your biggest fans". And why not shoot for the top? Feel sorry for the people who never do. #Yeezy2020
