im not going to name any names but I just want to inform everyone how to not speak to the person your commissioning, because this whole this has really upset me and I can’t get it off my mind (thread)

first of all, please please please do not rush artists or make them feel guilty for not being quick enough, I can promise you we are all working so so hard to get everything finished

please know it’s in my policy, I cannot send over digital files until payment had come through, and from now on I won’t start a piece until I’ve received payment. There is no need to get angry or rude because of this, I’m just protecting myself and business.

despite this, I still continued with the commission finishing the icon. They then sent the payment through again (which was also pending) making me feel even more guilty a rushed. Which later on, they asked for a refund of, which cost myself money in fees.

once they received the files, they then proceeded to edit them, which again is also against my policy, and is just rude to the artist ?

Once this was all over, I put it behind me and warned a few of my art friends about them, just as the payment still hadn’t come through and they were rude to me. However they ended up on the ‘list’ you might have seen circulating around twitter.

anndddd... I got this message this morning, which only resulted in me trying to explain it wasn’t me, but why they might be on there (in a polite way) and then them backfiring on me.

so this is basically what happened, and I’ve been quite upset about it all day, simply because I put a lot of time and effort into my commissions and make sure I talk the client through things and in some ways, I’m too nice !

sorry for the long rant, but this has gotten to me, and I’m taking a few days off from commissions, the person has blocked me, and I know has apologised to others for rushing them, so I’m happy to take the hit if it made them learn a lesson.
