My (white) younger brother received a #GadsdenFlag as a gift a few years ago. I didn't know what it was in refence to so I looked it up. Most of the articles don't directly answer my question..

Edit to add: Yes, I can read and understand that it was created as an anti-government symbol. Many symbols have evolved over time which is the reason for this question.

Is the concensus that the symbol of it is in the eyes of the beholder?
