Thoughts on landing at Dublin Airport after living through the Korean response to covid, and viewing how Incheon and Doha airports response compares to Dublin.
1. No staff members at immigration wore face masks or other protective coverings. All it takes is one asymptomatic passenger to transmit to staff, and then on to every person arriving into the country.
2. Coming out from baggage claim I saw no measures to check people's quarantine plans other than a piece of paper. Korea uses an app which authorizes government to use location services to see if someone breaks quarantine.
Also, after coming out of baggage claim I saw people waiting to collect travellers, greeting each other with hugs. One family had elderly parents and young children all together to meet one traveller. No face masks or protective measures at all.
3. Staff on board planes were covered in protective clothing. Cleaners and baggage handlers in Doha were fully covered. I saw one person wearing a face mask outside the plane in Dublin. Many of those who did have face masks were going with the pointless chin strap option.
4. In both Doha and Incheon airports seating was limited by use of signs that prevented people from sitting. Straps that went from the back of the chair over the sest itself. Dublin went with a small piece of paper.
There'll probably be more on this, but I just finished 22 hours of travel. Outside of the Covid19 response, spotting this cubicle door that can be opened from the outside was another surprise. In the first toilets you find after coming out into Terminal 1.
5. In the last 25 minutes I've seen a lot of people pass by these seats. Majority of Irish people not wearing masks. All international travellers masked up. Customs staff spoke to 3 Asian travellers who were noticeably concerned he wasn't masked & standing too close.
