CW Self harm // Calm Harm is an app that uses DBT recommended skills and has loads of distraction techniques for when an urge to self harm hits. It can be locked with a pin code, and it keeps a log of when urges are most strong and the techniques that have helped you most.
Virtual Hope Box is an app to help you through an immediate crisis. You can add photos, music, add emergency contacts, play distraction games and look at some of the quotes the app comes with. Design is not the nicest but is a good app.
Daylio: a mood tracker. Can add your own moods, add what time they hit and make notes about that mood, such as a trigger or if it comes with a specific behaviour. Shows you a diagram and stats about your mood and allows you to add goals to complete daily (I have premium)
Clear Fear: to work with anxiety. Helps you create a list of what you can do right now, reminds you of your coping strategies and you can add your contacts to call in an emergency.
SAM App: another app for self help for anxiety. Can track anxiety, it gives you breathing exercises and distractions, and you can add your own techniques so that you don’t have to remember them if you’re feeling particularly overwhelmed and anxious.
Didn’t plan on making this a thread but thought it could help people to see apps related to their specific mental health needs - obviously not an exhaustive list and if anyone has any good ones not mentioned here please add them!
BONUS ROUND: if you text SHOUT to 85258, you will speak to a trained crisis counsellor. Think like the Samaritans, but you can text them instead to get you through a moment if you want to talk to someone but don’t want to speak on the phone. Available 24/7. Can vouch for them!
