I've been thinking about the ending of #HamiltonFilm for a while now and I've seen people discussing on Twitter if the gasp at the end was Eliza seeing #Hamilton in the afterlife or if it was her seeing the audience and breaking the fourth wall.

I think it was the latter.

"Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" started with Washington asking the question and then Burr and Angelica asked "Who tells your story?" and Eliza entered the stage. Eliza put herself back in the narrative after #Hamilton died.

She then narrates all she had done in her life, including:
[1] interviewing every soldier who fought by #Hamilton 's side (with Mulligan, Lafayette & Laurens singing "She tells our story");
[2] having Angelica by her side as they tell his story;
[3] raising funds in DC for the Washington Monument (with Washington singing "She tells my story");
[4] speaking against slavery.

(4/9)
After that, she asked "And when my time is up, have I done enough? Will they tell our story?" It should be noted that she now asked "Will they tell OUR story?" meaning her and #Hamilton 's story.
(5/9)
She then asked "Can I show* you what I'm proudest of?" (-the orphanage where she helped raised hundreds of children) and "And when my time is up, have I done enough? Will they tell my story?"

*I think she's in her deathbed at this point

And then Hamilton entered the stage. Eliza sings "Oh I can't wait to see you again. It's only a matter of time."

I think she already died and sees #Hamilton in the afterlife at this point:
(8/9)

#Hamilton led Eliza to the edge of the stage and everyone asked "Who tells your story?" and Eliza gasped.
(9/9) Now, I think #Hamilton led her to the edge of the stage to show her that she was successful in telling his story when she was alive and then someone told their story and now everyone knows their story. #HamiltonFilm
