ITZY’s Lia, the tone goddess of the 4th generation.

An appreciation and analysis thread.

Lia has by far one of the best tones in kpop, but we rarely see fans and non-fans hyping her up for it. Her voice is a solid mix of Rosé and Ariana Grande’s vocal colour and it brings so much to itzy as a group.

(Elle Varner - Only Wanna Give It To You)

Her tone is stunning. Every syllable she sings has such a “Lia twist” to it that her covers sound so amazing and unique to her. Every song she sings becomes HER song with simply how beautiful her voice is.

(Twice - Dance The Night Away)

The best thing about Lia is that she KNOWS how to use her voice to make it sound good. She knows her tone inside out and is passionate about singing and how she does it. She knows how to pronounce words in ways that make it sound more melodic and beautiful.

(ITZY - Cherry)

As a main vocalist, JYP mistreats her, only using her for higher parts in songs, never showing off her actual vocal colour. This is an example of her absolutely EXCELLING in a song that’s more suited to her, her tone is so beautiful and @jypnation needs to start APPRECIATING IT

Her voice is so beautiful... I cannot stress this enough, even her humming is ridiculously melodic. It’s such a shame she didn’t remember the lyrics here.

People don’t mention this enough, but her voice is powerful, and she does have a wide range. She hits note effortlessly- she was MESSING AROUND and still hit C5’s and C6’s???????? LIA IS AN INSANELY GOOD VOCALIST GOD

(Idina Menzel ft. AURORA - Into The Unknown)

Her voice is very versatile- her ability to adjust her voice to a certain song without losing it’s original colour it’s very admirable and should be appreciated more. Look at her singing trot, again, this is no studio recording.

This is itzy’s song, not her part (Idk why she wasn’t given it- perhaps mistreatment) This highlights her tone and her pronounciation, the way she sings this is so inticing and I’m sure any right minded producer would love to work with a voice like hers

(ITZY - it’z summer)

So a lot of idols cover this song, but I feel like as usual, Lia gave it her own personal sound. It’s so admirable to me as music student how well she embodies each song and touches it with a certain type of emotion. She sings so well and I live for it

The way she ends her notes... the way her “i’m sorry” is sung. That’s something you can only get in Lia folks. A tone like no other.

(ITZY - That’s A No No)

Have y’all heard her LOW register? Here she excutes it perfectly, in a tone smooth and pleasant to the ear. She does this easily might I add, hitting low notes isn’t something particularly mastered within ggs but Lia does it easily. I strongly believe she has mastered her range.

Here, she pulls off this part best, she sings with a lot of clarity and power. This is contrasting to what we often hear from her, showing that she has full capability to change her voice according to what the song needs.

Also, to me this is where Lia’s position as main vocal solidifies- Lia has a big role in when Itzy harmonize, she is the base of their harmonization and you can see her pitching her members here. She holds the core of the harmony and guides the others.

here she becomes the base again. A really important part to play as a main vocal. Wendy of Red Velvet also plays this part in her own group, proving that Lia is indeed the core of itzy’s vocals. (Ft. Cutie yuna)

And how could I make a Lia vocal thread without this cover. This is PREDEBUT and she was already this good. You can tell she has absolute control over her voice and the TONE in this is just so eargasmic ugh im obsessed with her voice

^ G.O.D - Place Where You Want To Be

Something very impressive about Lia is how good she sounds even when she’s not in the studio. Even without a proper mic, autotune and echo, she still sounds gorgeous and is crazy stable- her voice doesn’t waver when she sings in her range and it sounds as if it were a recording.

In Conclusion: Lia is a GREAT vocalist with possibly the BEST tone within 4th generation vocalists. I hope everyone wakes up and begin to appreciate Choi Lia’s fucking amazing vocals sent from heaven. Her tone is so pleasant to the ear and so is she.
