I know this won’t be read and acknowledged, still I would like to pen down my experience on the hypocrisy in our country regarding racism
I am a South Indian born and brought up in Central India..my ethnicity itself would explain when I actually started facing the discrimination.
Even though my complexion was wheatish, starting from 3-4th std till 9-10th std, given I was an introvert, kids frm my class always used to call me wid names like ‘oye kallu’(hey blacky), oye idli sambhar, abe kalue etc etc..
These name calling just temporarily ended n restarted
During college..and don’t even get me started over what all name callings hv happened over Social media platform jst coz i disagreed over someone’s view or opinion...n the worst part is, people think callin me Idli Sambhar, Kallu coz I was a South Indian was their win over me...
And the worst experience was when my mom started lookin for a suitable bride for me..common friends of mom, relatives frm both sides used to say this literally to my mom “aap zyada umeed mat rakhna ki aapko ek dum khoobsurat si gori si ladki milegi, ladke ka color saawla hain
To ladki bhi aisi hi milegi...aap na ladki agar gori ho to uske parents se puchne bhi mat jaana, bewajah aapki or aapke bete ki insult hogi na sun ke kya mtlb”..this didn’t stop my mom coz she never judged a person by his/her looks, color..she was even ready to get me married to
any girl of any caste (she was nt stringent on getting me married to a South Indian only)..so she started approaching parents of girls on matrimonial sites, sometimes she would directly talk to the gal as well n all of them would always want a boy with fair complexion...
Even though few of the girls had darker complexion than me but the heart wants what it wants right!
These expectations, discrimination, name callings, setting aside is what is prevalent in our country till date and it will be there...it has nothing to do with education or money..
It’s just that the people of our country are divided on the basis of caste and religion..so this thread is to all those people who were actively takin part in #BlackLivesMatter , do good to ur own society first and dn be a preacher..
It’s been 3 yrs now m married to the love of my life, n she’s not a tamilian..i just hope my kids don’t have to go through what i went through during my developmental stage..it affects a lot people, it really does...
