My opinion on #TLOU2 ...out fucking standing. Spoiler warning ahead. It's rare nowadays that you pick up a game that is so polished and @Neil_Druckmann has created an absolute master piece. Everything from the story, the voice acting and the raw emotion in this game is phenomenal
The message of the game is one that you don't often see in action games, that violence and hate don't always get you what you want and that ultimately they lead to your own pain and hurt those around you. Vengeance leads to suffering and only through forgiveness can we find peace
I thought Ellie was played with such emotional depth and breadth of character by @TheVulcanSalute that I was left feeling drained, elated and sympathetic every time I put the controller down.
When I first started playing Abby I felt conflicted, here was a character that had inflicted such pain on characters I loved so much but by the end of the game I felt such genuine conflict and the last fight was genuinely difficult.
All I wanted was for them to talk about why they did what they did and explain to each other what was at stake now, but I also understood the raw emotional pain that both were experiencing. @LauraBaileyVO you did an outstanding job bringing Abby to life.
Technically speak the game is a masterpiece, such lush environments, engaging encounters and no loading screens makes for such an immersive experience. Thank you to everyone involved in #TLOU2 for making it so powerful.
There has been some criticism of the writing of the game, people suggesting that characters are not acting as they would have done in the first one, well think about how you acted when you were 14 or 18 or 21 if that is different to now congratulations you've grown as a person
At the end of the day these are people that have been through so awful, heartbreaking experiences it is natural that they might change when this things end, we are different people in a crisis.
And lastly if you can't differentiate a voice actor from a character or a writer from the art they create, get a grip your words tear through people like a knife through hot butter and we should all try to improve the world not tear people down (look at the start of this thread).
Revenge and violence ultimately only hurts you and those around you and will leave you with nothing. Ironically that's the message of the game and if you missed that well...the irony is not lost me.
